Meet Your Vibrant Health Coach
Create Your Personalized Integrative Medicine Roadmap to Healing
My shocking lymph node biopsy results were in; neuroendocrine tumor! I went down the rabbit hole, I panicked, became physically ill and thought I'd die before my son graduated high school. I didn't sleep. My sympathetic nervous system which was already exhausted from my job, went on overload. Just about every minute of every day was consumed with thoughts of suffering and dying, clearly an unhealthy mindset. I'm Jennifer Ron, a seasoned emergency physician. I saved and changed so many patients' lives. Then I saved mine. How? Read on...

I found Integrative Medicine (IM) via a long winding road so to speak. Yes I'm a doctor with great health insurance, working for one of the best medical facilities. Yet it took me five months to discover that Integrative Medicine is an accredited field of medicine! Those five months were unnecessarily painful, stressful, and confusing. I don't want that for you, the newly diagnosed cancer patient.

You need and deserve immediate help figuring out what it means to have cancer and your next steps. Cancer didn't just pop up in your body overnight like a plaque can suddenly rupture in your coronary artery causing a heart attack. No. Your body hosted cancer for quite some time, probably years, which is why there is no need for immediate panic or action unless the tumor is pressing up against a vital structure. You have time to consider your next move and how to not be such a kind host to cancer.

The winding road I took enabled me to understand exactly what it means and what it feels like to have cancer and its treatment. When I began using IM tools, I empowered myself to heal. Our bodies want to heal and return to a natural state of health and homeostasis. Everything I needed was already inside of me. I changed and am changing the lifestyle that promoted my cancer growth. As Integrative Medicine spoke to my heart, I became an eager student completing the IM Osher Collaborative Faculty fellowship through Northwestern Medicine, and now I'm double boarded; in emergency and integrative medicine. I realized I'm not just okay, making it through each day; I am vibrant physically, emotionally, and mentally!

It would be an honor to be your guide and mentor on your journey toward a vibrant life.

David Plotkin Empowerment Program, DPEP™
for YOU the newly diagnosed cancer patient
Program Description
DPEP™ is an 8-week program consisting of 4 shared medical appointments (SMAs). You along with nine to eleven patients will form a cohort and together you will learn and use evidence-based integrative medicine tools. This creates a built in support system and individual accountability.
Program Objectives
By the end of this 8-week program you will be able to:
1. Understand and guide your own daily nutrition, exercise, and sleep hygiene
2. Use personalized tools to deal with worry including mind body medicine (MBM), breathing techniques, journaling, and forest bathing
3. Access adjuvant therapy to cancer treatments, including appropriate evidence -based supplements and botanicals, advanced diet interventions – low carb, ketogenic diet, and intermittent fasting

Immediate Enrollment
With a cancer diagnosis, worry, stress, and fear create a victim mindset with a loss of control. This program aims to intervene before that process occurs.
I will be attending tumor board to scan for appropriate patients, and will base initial selection on diagnosis, age, and plan of care in collaboration with your physician.
I have formed an alliance with Northwestern Medicine.
Questionnaires
At DPEP™ you will complete a questionnaire regarding your cancer diagnosis, quality of life, care team, treatment plan and knowledge of and interest in the following: nutrition, mind body medicine (MBM), sleep support, and more.
At the midpoint and end of the program, similar questionnaires will be completed. Your data will be reviewed to determine how we can be more effective in your healing care.
Shared Medical Appointments & Personalized Care
You will have an individual appointment to review your entire history, diagnosis, oncologic treatment, and complete a questionnaire. A cohort will be formed consisting of 10-12 patients. You will complete the 8-week course together After the first visit which is in-person, you can choose in-person or virtual attendance.
Each shared medical appointment (SMA) will start with a directed meditation, followed by an educational component, then Q & A session, and a conclusion with an action plan for the two weeks. At the end of the session, time will be set aside for individual patient assessment and progress.
SMAs will occur in a space that will be welcoming, relaxing, and contain a library of books and other resources surrounded by forest preserve.
